Is it possible/desireable to use a 1990 Carrera front suspension in the 914? It has coil overs instead of the torsion bars. I've never seen one bolted up to a 914, but was wondering if anyone has.

Nothing remotely bolts up from a 90 car.
Totally different setup. B |

It is inadvisable to say anything is "impossible" around 914 people.
If you feel like re-fabricating the entire front-end of your car, go for it. Most mere mortals just use a 69-89 torsion bar 911 front end. Bolts right up.

Thanks guys! I figured that was the deal but was just curious. I remember hearing about someone using a complete Boxster suspension, both front and rear, so I guess anything is possible!

There is a 914 based GT1 replica that uses the 993 multilink rearsuspension.
Very wild tubeframed car, centered seat. It was featured in Excellence and is also in the back of the Paternie-book. Sorry, can't seem to remember the name of the owner (was it Ron Mistak?) due to serious lack of sleep this month Cheers, Jeroen |

Yup, it's Mistak's car. I saw its first outing, I think, at a Club Race at Thunder Hill a few years back. Nifty car.
Yeah, I've learned the "never say never" deal... This is the kind of thing that can be done, but the only way it will actually get done in the real world is if someone is absolutely driven to do it for some reason. In which case they probably wouldn't be asking about it here... --DD

Well, while we're at it...
A 928 front suspension would be nice Double wishbones and all set up for some serious brakes You ONLY have to create some pickup points 8^) Cheers, Jeroen |
