can anybody post pics of the FI Brain attachment to the firewall?

My dad removed the brain attachment that holds it onto the firewall, and while I have one piece, I need to manufacture the rest. A pic would help mucho! Thanks, Chris

The Brain is held in place by a two piece bracket that is secured to the battery shelf. The battery shelf, depending on the rust, should have two capture nuts that line up with the larger of the two brackets. It actualy does not attach to the firewall.

The above description is a for a factory stock mounting...

If you have A/C, the ECU was mounted with a variety of different straps (basically homemade at the dealerships) and usually simply screwed to the rear firewall through the pad.

OK, you can sort of see it here:

It's between the battery and the rear pad. The main part of it (with the two holes in the top of it) fits behind the battery and attaches to the tray with two bolts. The smaller part of it (attached with the two screws you see on top) attaches to the side of the battery tray, and has a hole in the top for the idle potentiometer.

D*mn Chris, I was just showing you that when you came over Sunday. Pay attention Grasshopper....
The part that bolts the ECU to the battery tray usually rots out fast in the NW due to the rain and battery acid leaking on it.
Ask Craig at CAMP914 if he has any extras...or come to the PCA Autox on Nov 16th and maybe one of those guys has one laying around.

Ya, Geoff, I was just so pumped to actually have been in a 914, that everything else is a blur! I have the pieces, I just found them in my tool chest. They are rusty, but I have a nice, new can of Por-20 that will make it look beter. Thanks pbanders for tyhe pic. It helped! My engine should be ready this next week, so hell, with luck I might be able to drive the 914 over to Bremerton! Thanks all, Chris

On my old brown teener the ECU was just laying on top of the AC compressor. After removing the compressor, I had a big hole in it's place (ECU actually fell through the hole on a test run and was dragging on the ground). The piece that attaches to the ECU was missing. I scrounged up the battery attachment bracket but had to make the other. This first pic shows the piece I made from a crumpled 914 fender and added to the stock bracket.

That s good pic also. I have both pieces, but the screw that bolts onto the battery tray (on the far left of the battery support in your pic) was ripped off. I will need to make an extention. Thanks!
