Porsche Crest Fuel pump for '74 914 1.8 converted to 32.36 weber

just started this weekend working on a "patience building" 74 914 1.8 with my 12 year old son. At 16 he gets it ... And we both get an education.
I did a Type 1 rebuild (68 bug) that ran 40k before I sold it so not completely a rookie but not seasoned.
Question: this engine was carb modified (32.36 Weber, center mount, no wire to the choke ).
We started with a leaking fuel pump and it is no longer working. May have accidentally run it dry to long... Something to learn for next time.
What would you suggest replacing it with? The inter web says Carter 4070 but no Porsche site says the same. I understand this is a 4psi pump that auto regulates.
We would like a long lasting and good solution without breaking the bank.
Thanks. C

The Carter lp pump is fine or the similar rotary pump sold thru our host will do the same, its also sold by CB Performance ,needs no regulator and very reliable.
I'am running the Carter with my 914/6 conversion.
Father/ son projects are great,my son and I have been doing a Golf mk2 GTI and its been great.
Cheers.
