Finally - Found a 914 for my GT project

Finally have the chance to start my 914 GT project. The Porsche infection started many years ago when my first boss let me drive his 911. I purchased a 912 a few years later; loved it, but sold it due to school and finances. Well, years later, I found the perfect start for a 914 GT.

The car looks to be rust free, already has steel flares, and the interior is in decent shape. Today I found a 3.2 for the transplant, and next week she will be stripped and begin her transformation.

Nice find! Where did it come from (must be out of state if it's rust-free or close to it)?

Whereabouts in VA are you?

Mitox2 10-24-2015 05:54 AM

The car come from out west, and has been in GA for many years. We may find something stripping it, but I hope not. I'm in the mountains of VA, so we'll need to ensure it is treated well during the paint prep.

Looks like a great find and place to start a GT. I just got mine off to the painter after being apart for twenty plus years. Have fun and keep us updated. Best, Markhttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1445946378.jpg

Ok, time for some regular postings on progress. Off to meet with John Forbes at Black Forest Racing on Monday. I should have pics of a green GT coming to life soon.

Progress has been delayed, though I am told the body mods should be complete, and that my 914 will be ready for the paint shop by this Friday. I'll be visiting the shop on Friday, so there should be pics to upload soon thereafter.

Mitox2 05-30-2016 07:28 PM

Mark, your project looks great. I noticed the black trim; I am planning to do this also. Did you have it powder coated?

Emo993 05-31-2016 03:25 AM

No, just sanded, primed and painted. Used Eastwood primer and satin black trim paint. Not bullet proof, but if scratched I can easily touch it up.
