Flooded engine

So I picked up a spare core engine from a junkk yard and on a lark put a wrench on the altenator nut I was able to turn the engine over water shot out of the spark plug holes due to the engine and the wrecking yard was flooded. Have any of you delt with a flooded engine like this?

How long was it under water. Is there rust in the water. Drain the oil and remove the filter and see whats in it. Use a coffee filter.

I pulled it apart due to leaf debris evident in the open oil fill that was missing. The number three cyl has a crack the length of the cyl . I think this was due to no cooling flaps in the tin. Basically a core rebuildibles long block. The rod bearings wear normal wear and no rust on the cam or crank.
