License Plate Light Assemblies

I am purchasing new license plate light assemblies from who else but Pelican and I have been warned that they must be installled correctly or they will quickly burn out and melt the fixture because of grounding problems. Anyone out there know an easy way to tell which wire goes on which wire? Electrical was never my strong suit. (1973 914)

Thanks,

Bill

If you've got an ohmmeter, check for connectivity between a mounting screw and each terminal. If you don't have an ohmmeter, look for metal connecting from one terminal to one or both mounting screws. That one is the ground wire.
