Checking 2.0 heads for cracks
1 Attachment(s)
A friend of mine works at a Non Destructive Inspection Lab, I asked him if he could check my 914 2.0 heads for cracks. Wow, what a process, he used a level 5 process, this is supposedly the highest level of dye penetrant inspection you can do. There are 7 stations to this process, initial dye dipping, rinsing, acid rinsing, controlled rinsing, developer dipping, drying then the actual black light inspection. The heads passed with flying colors...no cracks! Attached is a picture of one of the steps, this is the acid rinse.

Now THAT is cool!!!

Think he could dunk my whole car and do the blacklight thingie with it?;)
|
Yeah Chris, but it's the acid bath part that's hard on the whole car!

More pictures of the process. One is the entire system, , the next is of the head with the black light shining on it, the third is the black light booth. If they're were crack they would show up bright green. The flash washes out most of the black light, but you get the idea.

You saw that huh? It is usually outside, but here in the great white north, you can't play b-ball outside!
