Sorry, no 914/4 (T-IV) off-the-shelf turbo-type kits available, 911-type cooling or otherwise.

All current projects out there are custom-made/designed. Want one like theirs? Bring $$$ ...

Turbo's

Yeah,
I gotta agree, Ive looked and surfed and looked and called and looked and daydreamed and did I mention I looked??

I found a new engine guy who will send ya all the parts to make a killer stroker though, and with MSD, good cooling, a CB 48mm F&I, kerry hunter exhaust and a core(or he'll sell ya that too) you'll have 175ish and it'll feel like a turbo.

http://www.type4parts.com I talked to him at lenght today sounds like a winner!!...............anybody got feed back?

I am also building a system, I will be intercooling it, as I don't like to fill bottles for water injection. I will also be integrating the megasquirt system into this one! I did the the draw thru thing before, I like the idea of an FI systen instead of a carb. I will start to document my progress soon, in the collecting parts and design phase right now!

Ed,

That Crown was the turbo kit I had on my '73. If I recall, mine was an earlier version. Had lean-out issues with it.

i wonder what that guy ever did with that motor?? I'm guessing it's sitting in a corner collecting dust.....

Jake was telling me my new motor combo ought to be pretty decent for a low (6-8ish) boost increase

The Crown kit was not available for sale in Cali. due to VC 27156. which is still on the books ! Since Crown would'nt sell me one , I got out the box of Ubends, mig welder, Bridgeport , a Rajay FB40 and with a little help from some friends> the type 4 turbo kit !
It's funny but that ad will be 30 years old in only 2 years...time flies when your under boost. That Washington Pl. address was a friends Porsche tuning shop called The Factory, and he handled the retail end of kit sales. His old shop is gone--replaced by a strip mall. Tito's Tacos is still on Washington place and still daBomb ! Our shop moved 3 times since '77-presently in Glendale Ca. That's all I heard back then "You can't turbo a 914"! This is the same car (in the B & W ad) today...3.2 biturbo 18 psi boost...
