Painting..........Right Now.
Just finished the sealer. Waiting one hour to go back with the good stuff. I started last Friday and at the final coat on the top, the gun dripped and ruined the job. I was doing the top and rear trunk lid separtely ahead of body to cut down on time spent in temporary spray booth. The color is Artic Silver. Metalic is the hardest to spray. If I write anything stupid (well, more stupid than usual) later, you'll know why.........FUMES. Yes, I have a good mask and all, but you still get high.

I'd love to see good pictures of it finished.
Silver was the OE color of mine, its been changed to yellow, and now is soon going to need a respray: I'm torn with putting it back to OE Silver Painting it: Zambezi, Ravenna, or correct yellow (sunflower?) Assuming it ever runs again.

Here's how the flares turned out. You never know what it's really gonna look like until you see the shine.

It's looking good. I wish it was warm enough here for me to paint mine.
I really like your flares, they flow real nice down the side of the car. Can't wait to see some color on it.

artic silver
I was thinking of painting my 914-6 project artic silver. Was thinking of painting the rockers, valances, and top blue like my 993 cab. Artic silver is a great silver. The 993 is behind the project.

Milt, what flairs are those? They look pretty cool. Can't wait to see the finished product...nothing like a shiny 914 w/ a good repaint! I'd love to do mine some day...keeping it Ravenna Green of course

Looks great! Metallic silver was the OE color of mine, so I have a soft spot for silver. But silver WITH flares, man it'll be a bad a$$ mofo for sure. Cant wait for a finished pic.

No, not on my car. The car I bought hadn't seen the street in many years. It was a lien sale, and I bought it from about the second guy that had it after the lien sale.
I saw the saying done in vinyl lettering on the rear glass of a lesbian's SUV. LOL. I know what she was, I talked to her about the saying. She actually had mis-used some grammar. I changed it a little anyway. She sure was proud of being different. I'm not that different than the rest of you and will probably loose the thing in a while when I find something better. I do have kind of a negative attitude, though. Can't help it. If you lived over here in Long Beach, you'd know what I mean. It's a sewer. But I can make a living here, something I couldn't do in two small towns I lived in. Thier little good-ol'-boy clubs won't let newcomers in. So F--k them, too. How's that for a thread on painting? I'll post a pic of the complete car this weekend. |
