What might these be? (Triad Header)

Check out the "stubs" comin out the head. Seems easier removal of the exhaust system.

Home brew, or available somewheres? Could have some made, I guess

Chris Foley at Tangerine Racing makes stub pipes. He has a few different sizes and types.

I recently was able to look at and handle a Tangerine header and stub pipes. This has been said before, but Chris Foley does beautiful work. The welding and fabrication is very impressive. I'd love to have a header system by him.

Having said that, I have always thought the Triad system in Korijo's post looks pretty good. I wouldn't mind trying one of those either.

the picture does not show a TRIAD muffler set up. the TRIAD bolts up to the stock type flange at the end of the exhaust pipes. stub pipes were used on 75's or with some aftermarket header (not 74 and earlier heat exchangers). korijo, you should plan on going to the the next a-x at bremerton drag strip(right next to the airport, it's in march. if you have'nt yet, join the local chapter of pca. but you do not have to be a member to attend.

The photo of the header system shown above is the same photo used in the Triad web site. They offer headers for both the 914 and 911. Triad also makes mufflers for 914 and 911's which bolt to the stock type heat exchanger flanges. I tried to attach a link, but it seems my Triad links are out of date and I couldn't find their site.

Korijo is correct. The header shown is in a Triad prepared car. I think the car belonged to the Triad owner. At one time, this picture was on the Triad West website and described as a Triad header.

Yep, that is a picture of the transmission of David Said race car. Those are the header he built and sold for 914's. Here is a pic of the car.

Very nice car. Simple and clean. I wonder what kind of wheels those are?

i may be mistaken but i don't think newtriad produces the headers.just the mufflers, their cool carb linkage, and a bolt down plate to install an optima battery in the stock location.

Bleyseng 01-11-2003 08:48 AM

Dave Ellison still makes the headers

Kevin Powers 01-11-2003 08:55 AM

remember, if you use those headers you get 0 heat inside the car and you will need to block off the tubes where they enter at the lower, outer, firewall .

Bleyseng 01-11-2003 10:14 AM

Yeah, but it's worth about 5 hp for those that are counting.....
Kevin, How ya been? Finished putting the 73 back together?

Kevin Powers 01-11-2003 12:24 PM

hey geoff, some personal matters have consumed vast ammounts of time. the garage is warming up so i plan to be in bremerton for the first a-x with silver car. probably should sign up for de now, if space is still available. as for that 5 hp, if they could defrost my windshield and keep me from wearing ski gloves in my car it would be another story. my h.e. boxes work great. spoiled, puss, baby? i guess i am.

cheers, kevin

for an extra couple of bucks you can join the local chapter. they send you a dandy magazine "der speil" once a month. when i signed up (at the ax) they wave the $10 or $15 participation fee for your first ax.
