what is the correct jetting for a stock 1.8L with a 32/36 dfav weber progressive. i checked the #'s on my jets and they are 170 and 180, 40 and 42. is there something wrong with this? if so, what are the right ones i need?

Shawn,

If you get the great weber book by "Bob Tomlinson", it will help guide you in the correct direction. It covers theory of operation, tuning, rebuilds, etc. Bob even throws in a little humor to offset any aggravation.

Also check Aircooled.net

I too am in the same boat as yourself. As far as my book states, to get within the ballpark with one silver bullet, cookie cutter answer is difficult. It states that all engines react differently to jetting due to engine wear, cam type, etc. It goes on to say in so many words, even if you took two engines of the same type and size they will jet differently. Some of the experts on here may differ with that, but thats what I'm reading. I'm sure your post will gather the fellas to the campfire, who do this on a extensive level. I have a running post called the "I've got the carb rich blues" going. I have gotten a outpouring response from the fellas. I'm still working on my issue. Am I closer to a resolution? You betcha.....with their help.

In my ongoing problem the guys gave me examples of their engines and jetting and that has helped steer me, but I know mine will be slightly different, so I keep that in mind. If I was knowledgeable enough to help you I certainly would. I'm still a flegling with these types of cars and I don't want to step beyond my bounds and add more frustration to your quest.

Steve
