FI suggestions..here we go!
OK. I bought a corvair engine for $50 and have started building my monstrosity. I need to gather ideas for FI. I was thinking about using a D-jet set up from a 914/4 set uyp with six injectors, but I am not sure if I can do that. I may use D-jet off of a MB 6cyl, but again I am not sure how I will trigger it. I saw talk of MFI, CFI, FYI, IHNFC, WTF?, but I know nothing of this. All of your input will be used to further my insanity in the production of one pimp corvair engine for my 914. Ill post pics and the story of the engine soon, its well worth the wait
I wnat mega squirt, but it seems like I will have to wait a year for the next group by....yadda, yadda, yadda. Unless someone has one for sale. alright gents, no holds barred, lets get your ideas to inject a 3.1L flat air cooled six. Mike glutton for punishment

Do some research and see what the Corvair guys are using, that'll help immensly......
Buy a couple of FI books to get a better understanding of the systems you see mentioned.... Watch the Megasquirt list...it seems every other week someone is selling a Megasquirt for one reason or another (I might have an extra PCB for sale, but you'd have to source all the seperate parts) |

Mike,
I'll take what MS stuff I can get. So far the board is the only obstacle short of using a bread board(ugly). I will have to build the chip programmer thing, but thats cake, and fun. Let me know what you want for the PCB. I am trying to get a better idea here of what systems to look at. I'm not too keen on investigating every system on the plannet. My ideal is the MS though, and that will be the primary idea for the controller. I will still need ideas for the rails, throttle bodies, etc. The corvair community has not been to forthcoming with particulars on what they used, other than some high $$$ unit which totaly defeats the purpose of what I am attempting to produce. Thanks for the info, keep it coming. Mike

If I have an extra PCB, you can have for whatever I paid for it...10 bucks I think....To burn the chip the first time, you need the special programmer, I have that also (not for sale..)
I'll get back to you in the next few days Mike |

Sure PD! The fee would be nominal I assure you. Some where around the price of a six pack (of GOOD beer)

By the time someone tells you about a post on the MS list about one being for sale, it will be sold... They go quickly.
