Funny noise, right rear...
Had to change the brake pads (to Pagid Blue) just before the last DE of the season last fall. Tech inspection noticed a little play in the right rear hub, so they honked down on the axle nut real good which seemed to help.
Now I'm getting a noise from the right rear when I corner (left or right, fast or slow, always the same pitch, but modulates loud/soft based on speed). Local guru sez it's probably just the fresh brake pad resonating on the rotor, but that modulation makes me wonder if something is bent. Any opinions / similar experiences? |
After I changed my read brake pads and adjusted them, I needed to readjust them after some driving.

Wheel bearing...
|
Had an odd noise, Rt. rear also. I thought sure as heck it was a bearing. Turned out the lug bolts had un-torqued themselves enough that the wheel was ratteling on the hub. (Gee, I wonder who didn't torque those bolts tight enough - Duh)

Jack up the car and wiggle the wheel to see if it has any play. 12 and 6, then 9 and 3 with your hands. There should be almost no play at all. Slowly spin the wheel and listen for noises. Pull the wheel and the brake pads reinstall the wheel and listen again.
Probably a wheel bearing but look carefully. Geoff |
