starter options?
There appears to be several starter options for my 74 914 2.0 Leaning towards a hi torque unit but there are several options on those as well. Anyone with a high torrgue starter on their car that is happy with the performance? Thanx L.

I had a small high torque starter that lasted about 6 months. It was a very cheap one and you get what you pay for. Get a good quality starter and you won't spend as much time pushing the car.

I've had a hi-torque starter on my 914 since 2001 and have had zero issues with it. The car turns over so much faster vs the previous Bosch unit. It worked so well I put one on my 928 about 4 years ago and it has been flawless as well.
If you send me an email to petza914@gmail.com I can send you a couple pictures of both, but my photos are too large to upload to the antiquated Pelican site interface since it doesn't automatically resale them like most sites do. Pete |

Pete, if you have a MacPro, just pick your photo, hit tools (top of Page) select image size, then custom fit, select botton setting (1280 x 1050)...That will take a 5meg file down to 200K. Still looks good and easy to post. Best, Mark

I use a program called Fotosizer to downscale the resolution of photos I have to post, but don't have to do that on Rennlist or 6speedonline,which is much more convenient. |

You really don’t need a high torque starter to spin a type 4 engine. Just have an oem starter rebuilt by a local shop that does starters and alternators. Usually costs $75-125 and it’s good for another 40 years.
