What's it worth?
I am considering mfg some parts for the 914. I own one and understand how difficult some items are to get. Since the 914 was a "budget" car some of the mtrls used to make some parts are getting rather "ratty" now. I am considering mfg the driverside map pocket and pass side armrest support. I am also considering mfg the firewall cushion, but not as upholstery, but rather an FRP, Vac form, or Carbon Graphite part to replace the whole thing. The same goes for the armrest items. I want to know what the general feeling is concerning what materials are most attractive, and what price you are willing to pay for such items. Since I have been a mech eng since 1985 I have a good handle of the mfg process and am looking at creating lucrative business making parts for Porsche fans like myself. I am currently in the process of testing my 914-6 conversion motor mount. Hopefully when I am satisfied it is a reliable item I will start to market it. Thanks for any input you guys can give me.

Well, this is the first time I saw this post. What might be cool is the rear firewall cushion made out of carbon fiber and with an 8" speaker hole deep enough to mount a woofer into. Going from the limited space in the cars that might be a hot item. Maybe some spots for some 4" mids on the sides up by the seat belt too. I did that already on one of my old ones. It sounded good but that was back in the 80's. Shoot me an email and lets talk about it.

I remove the armrest and map pockets, they are to big and bulky. Straps and smaller FIAT tyoe handles work fine. The backpad, it needs to be made so that you can install speakers, I remove the light, a waste.
Keep the vision. CCL

I'm relatively new to 914's but YES build the back wall to house speakers,
maybe a woofer in center and a speaker at each corner...would probably pay $200 or so for the wall to not have to make it myself.. Robert O

I've been mesing with 914's for abour 15 years and find interior pieces easy to find. I have a basement full of interior stuff. Seems to me the business to get into at this time is the 914 to 6 conversion. 6 engines are very reasonable but the parts to install them are more than you pay for an engine. Exhaust headers are more than an engine. Stay in touch, I have a real 914-6 and am building a 2.4L/6 autocross car now. My son can do most of the fabrication but it is still expensive. I'll be driving to South Florida at Thanksgiving (from Atlanta) so keep in touch if you need any 914 parts , I can build any engine configuration you want, I have wheels, 916 bumpers, exhaust parts, doors ....you name it.
