What "mesh" or "screen" material did you use?
Hello Sergio,
I was wondering if you could email me some very close up photos of the "mesh" or "screen" material used to make the double-grill. Here is my email address: ajserrano@msn.com If the lid is still available and the correct mesh material was used, I'll buy it on the spot! http://www.pbase.com/image/22304069 Thanks! Armando |

I would asume that he used the same material as you use for the rear portion but I was curious as well. I am going to make a few out of what I have.

Not the same material was used as found on the stock engine lid
That is my point and why I asked if the "correct" material was used. The 914-6 GT engine lids, used a less restrictive "pattern" for more cooling. I have personally inspected original factory cars and can confirm that it is different. The material is extremely difficult to find and there are no less than 4 of us that I know looking for it at this time.
Take a very close look at the photos I linked to my first post above. Armando |

Armando,
You may be correct. But you must remember that Porsche did many variation based upon what material they had available at the time a particular car was being made and also what the customer wanted. To my knowledge, the GT double grill was not part of the GT package. The orginal GTs that ran at the Monterey Historics, the year that Porsche was the honored marque, had several variations of the GT grill - and, I believe, that these were factory cars. The double grill engine lids I make do use the orginal grill material found on the stock 914 grills. If my grills were indeed "originals", I would be selling them for quite a bit more. The best of luck on finding the correct grill material. If you do find it, I would also like to get some or at least the source. Thanks
