I'll be the first to ask the big question. What about rust?

sharper,

Yes, absolutely! What flavor of rust are you interested in?

Here's the rust score, to the best of my knowledge:

Front trunk...surface only, actually pretty clean
Floor pans....in good shape when I looked about 1 yr. ago
Rear trunk.... Rust thru along the back corner, from leaking tail
light housing.
Battery tray.. None, because there isn't one
Longs............Don't know for certain how bad these areas are.
Jack posts are really rusty

Body.............The most severe area of rust is a thru spot, about
four inches square, at the very rear top of the right
rear fender. There are some smaller dings that have
surface rust only.

I'm sure an interested and well motivated person could find more, however, I am niether one. But I'd be happy to answer, as best I can, more and specific questions about this and other aspects of this car. For example: Has this car ever had it's oil changed in Hawaii? Answer: Why, yes, it has!

Hey Ed,

Does it run by any chance or would my wife have to push it home?

Dean,

The car ran well when I stopped driving it daily over a year ago. I think I'll have to put in a fresh (but inexpensive) battery to crank it over when someone comes to take a look.

Regarding your wife pushing, don't forget this is a 914 we're talking about. You might want to get her psyched up for pushing, just in case.

Sorry Ed, my wife reminded me that we already have 4 cars and if we got another one we would have to invest in a large number of plastic pink flamingos to distract the neighbors from the used car lot. Plus she is already tired from pushing my karmann ghia.

You know it's funny, that is the only thing she asked me. Not "what kind of car is it?" or "How much?" Just "What color is it?" Maybe she things it is some sort of military vehicle.

I'm surprised no one has jumped on it yet, it looks like quite a bargin.

Dean,

It is a fair price, I think, but also a firm one. A bargain? Oh, I don't know.... Thanks for looking, anyway!

Let's run this up the flagpole again for those who may not want to turn to page 3. Another shameless bump.

velomann,

Say, that's a tough offer to walk away from, uh, let me see...

Well, I've got the "make sure that it runs" part figured out; it started up pretty darn easy after a deep charge on the battery. All I've got to do is find someone to drive it to Seattle for $10.

Let me work on that

Ed
