WTB: Good 914 engine case
I'm trying to locate at good 914 case for a 2.0L rebuild. 1.7L, 1.8L, and 2.0L cases wwill work. The most important thing to me is that the case has been checked and is not worn out. There are two simple checks:
1) Quick and dirty-see if the main bearing surfaces "grab" a new bearing - you should have to tap it in lightly and it will stick when you pull it out 2) More accurate - have a bore gauge and check the bearing surface diameters with the case clamped shut. I found a guy in town that did this quickly for free. Thank you! I have 2 cases and both are worn out. i am trying to avoid align-boring these cases. This is why I am requesting a "known condition" case. Ben Last edited by BenI; 03-24-2003 at 11:20 PM.. |
