914 door mirrors and rear view mirror

Hi... Interested in the 914 rear view mirror. Do you think the mirror will fit solidly once snapped into the post? I fear it may be loose and flop around. My mount & post are still on the windshield, but the mirror plastic disintegrated and the mirror fell out. ( lasted 48 years
