87 944s Wheel Fitment

Have been restoring my car now for a couple months. Someone offered me a very good deal on a set of wheels/tires...I spent as couple hours searching, but could not find anyone talking about this exact fitment. I have an 87 944s late offset.

Wheels are Turbo Twist Replicas with Pirelli Winter tires.

225/40-18 on 18x8 front +50
265/35-18 on 18x10 rear +55

Anyone know if these will fit?

must not have been searching in the right places...

really depends if your car as-is has space towards the fenders and towards the suspension for more metal.
but yes, those should be OK.

Fronts will be close but should fit fine. However, in the rear you're adding 2 inches of width to the stock wheel, with the change in offset you'll need 28.1mm of additional clearance inboard and it will stick out an additional 22.7mm. That rear tire size is 1/2" taller than the stock as well, so I seriously doubt you can fit them in the rear without rolling the fenders. Even then, I have my doubts.

My biased opinion: The increase in unsprung mass and rotational inertia will hamper the performance and thin sidewalls of those tires will make your ride much harsher.

My ultra-biased opinion: 17" wheels should be the limit on a 944, looks cartooney with anything larger.

Those wheels seem to be well within the typical safe range of width and offset for a late car. Also the tires equipped on them are also on the safer with the section width. Worst case you might have a roll the fender.
