Help with 924s hesitation
Wondering if any super-sleuths out there can help me diagnose/verify a problem with my '87 924s track car.
Let me start by saying it gets worse once the car warms up. It turns out there was a good 1/8th inch slice in the number 3 cylinder spark plug wire boot (at the spark plug). As I give it gas the car starts to sputter, surge, repeat. I cannot put my hand near the spark plug without getting zapped. My question is: is this problem alone enough to account for the crappy performance? Thanks for taking the time to consider this.

Have you tried running it in the darkness to see if you can see it arcing as you rev the engine?

On the sliced wire the charge is going to ground and not to the plug. Replace the bad wire.

Thanks all. Done (wire replaced). Was wondering if it is possible to get a hydro lock from the un-burned fuel.
