944/1 windshield wiper motor alternative write-up

To begin with how this started, the plastic gearing in my wiper motor had stripped. I was unable to locate a used one and did some searching for an alternative option. I came across this thread and figured I would try it. https://rennlist.com/forums/924-931-944-951-968-forum/766142-wiper-motor-bit-the-bullet-again-996-part.html With the new motor installed, everything operates perfectly with the intermittent, low, and high speed.

I ordered a used windshield wiper motor (Part# 0390241350) from a 97 Porsche 986 Boxster. When I received it, I removed the plastic to see the internal contact points. They are almost identical; however, the inner and outer contact points are reversed on the new motor.

I used the original connector and wired the motor to match the corresponding contact points on the new motor.

When first trying to line up the motor to the bracket, there was a screw on the motor preventing the holes from lining up. I used a dremel tool to cut a small section of the bracket.

I thought I would do this write up to let everyone know that these wiper motors are another option for our cars.

That's awesome, but who drives their Porsche in the rain!

Hah! Will have to remember this if I never need to replace mine. However, it just doesn't see rain.
