Power steering hose/ line parts
I found all the hoses and lines for the power steering in the Pelican catalog - what other little things are required to replace just the hoses from the reservoir to the pump, and from rack to reservoir- I’m thinking crush rings, washers, seals, etc. or is it just that simple - look at the PET diagram and e.g. all that is needed are
944.347.445.05 944.347.449.06 944.347.459.03 Take the old ones off - put new ones on. I’m thinking I’ll skip 944.347.447.02 for now, it seems ok - that one looks more complex as it has a banjo fitting. |

Next, buy the 445.05 reservoir to pump hose if it is leaking. Also cheap to replace. On the 449.06 and 459.03 pieces where there is a rubber hose attached to a cooler tube or to a metal return line, these are pricey parts. So if the metal tube portion of the line is undamaged, just cut the clamp holding the hoses onto the metal lines, slit and remove the hoses and replace them with 3/8" hydraulic hose or even fuel line. Once you remove the hoses from the metal tube, you will see that the tube has a ribbed hose barb on it that a new hose may be pushed onto. Once the hose is on, just put a regular hose clamp on it to replace the factory crimp that you cut off. These lines are just the low pressure return lines from the rack and are not being used in as critical an application as is the high pressure line from the pump to the rack. And now you are done and Bob's your uncle! You can also take these tube/hose combos to a local hydraulic hose repair shop to be refurbished if you wish, but many of those guys eyes glaze over when they see metric sized lines and they don't want to work on them. As I recall there is a size mismatch between the two ends of the reservor return line and the cooler line so you need to stretch the hose to get over the reservoir fitting.

Measured the short hose and surrounding pipes:
smaller pipe : OD ~5/16” (8mm) hose OD : ~1/2” 13mm) larger pipe : OD ~3/8” (10.5mm) McMaster generally has hydraulic hose (is this really for power steering fluid), but it’ll be way easier to know the ID. They have lightweight, low pressure, or high pressure hose. The FLAPS are of mixed results- I might look into them. Anyone know the ID of the hose between the pipe sections? |

Use some grease and taper the inside of the hose with a knife and it will go on.
The power steering uses ATF fluid so use ATF hose, not fuel line. ATF will degrade fuel line. Same 8mm |
