wheels

What is the optimum size wheels to use on the race track, not just height but width front and rear. Performance only not personal preferance.

On my 944S2, I've been running with 16x7 front with a 225/50 16 tire, and with 16x8 rear with a 245/45 16 tire. No rubbing issues whatsoever.

For this coming season, I'm migrating over to race tires, and plan on using the following setup: 16x8's all around shod with 245/45 16's. From what I've heard, I shouldn't have any rubbing issues. Why the change? Two main reasons:
1. The bigger contact patch up front will help eliminate some of the understeer my car exhibits.
2. I can rotate the wheels front to back to help even out the wear.

oh!.. that'd be sweet?.. Z- will the width affect acceleration in any way?...

The wider wheels may increase a little drag at high speeds, but the increased cornering grip should compensate for that. I was already running a +1 setup: 225/50 front, 245/45 rear (compared with the stock setup of: 205/55 front, 225/50 rear)

But regarding the wheel/tire diameter: it is the same as stock.
205/55-16 = 225/50-16 = 245/45-16 in tire diameter.

Fat tires are PHAT! :D
