Can anyone tell me how to adjust
Hello, just finished putting everything back together after paint. And for the life of me i cant figure out how to center the headlight buckets and covers . There is about 3/4" on one side of the cover and only about 1/8" on the other side..
Surely there has to be a way to center them so they look better. Both headlights are in need of fixinghttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1554076734.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1554076734.jpg |
each side has a triangle plate mount thing that the light pivots on.
the triangles each have 3 bolts and oversized holes so you can loosen the bolts a little, adjust the bucket up down side to side as needed and re-tighten. also the inner triangles can have little shim plates to help center. |
Nice paint....did it yourself?
|
Thanks for the info i will attempt to center them today.
Paint was done by a friend who has a shop out here in cali. But i did most everything in regards to take everything apart and reassemble it all. |
Love that paint! Looks like a gray "Hammertone?" If not - what is it?
|
The paint is gunmetal gray with a silver metalflake , and 7 coats of clear
The paint is from Bayou Innovations And its there KemFX brand. Very very good paint i would recommend to anyone who is looking for a good paint. Although this paint isnt for use in California. As the VOC content is too high. But if you know the owner of the spray booth and they are far away from the city life then you could spray it. But they are not alowed to ship it to california. So i had it shipped to Arizona and had a friend then ship it to me. The paint came in a kit with everything and i think it was about $800 for the kit. Including the extra clear. |

I need to adjust the bucket left to right to get it centered. I loosened the three10mm bolts and no go. Now of i were to shim that i cant see how it would adjust left to right. I have the light cover off but looks like i might have to take the nose panel off no |
The picture is showing the 3 bolts correct

All of those gaps look too big. Looks like you might need to start with the hood...move this forward a bit (look at the hinge mechanism, which is adjustable).

The paint looks great.

The hood is not latched down in pic sorry
|
I cant see any adjustments in the first pic that would move light and cover left or right. Other then bending the tabs at the mounting for t he cover and plastics
2nd pic is the oversized screw holes for adjusting up and down height Still at a loss for the left right adjust. Ps the hood is not latched downn in pic. So it has a big gap in hood and nose part. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1554337594.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1554337594.jpg |
Sorry pictures are reversed

I edited your picture to show where the part that limits L/R travel is. If this is not tight and you adjust the headlight it will return to the same spot. Shiming is one way to adjust but this piece needs to be tight so it cant move L/R after adjustment. A pita because you may have to do it from inside the fender well depending on which direction things need to go.

I keep coming back to this post...not to be more helpful (sorry!) but to gaze at that paint! Wow!
