Well, guys...I have some news. You all know about my tranny incident, correct? Well, it turns out I took another chance, but this time it all turned out GREAT! I found a tranny for $100 that MIGHT have been making a growling sound, probably bearings. Well, I bought it for that price, put new fluid in it, threw her in the p-car. Low and behold, it was a good tranny
I finally have my baby back and I have missed her so. The only problem is everybody is now hounding me for rides and everybody wants to go cruising with me again Oh well, Just more reasons to drive

I used Pronto because that's the only thing Sturdevants had that was the right formula. I'm probably going to replace it with either redline or amsoil though.

I know they recommend 80W 90, but is it safe to use 85W 140? Wouldnt it be smoother and easier to shift? That thickness still is in that API-3 class or whatever class is recommended for the 944 transmission.
PS - Great to hear Gearhead! You got a deal! John |

Hey gearhead920,
I am glad that tranny worked for you. I am always glad to help put another 944 back on the road. It was nice to meet you and put a name to a face. A small trip to Lincoln, Nebraska was well worth it. Let me know if you ever need any other parts. Greg |
