83' to 86 tranny

ANy differences?

I thought they used the same tranny from 83-86? Code 16K

Any different plugs on the 86 tranny? or is it a straight swap?

For some reason I have this weird feeling their was a switch in 86?? for something different on the tranny?

I put a automatic tranny from an '86 in my '84, I have no reason to believe than a manual would be any different. You'll have to save the mounts out of your '83, the case is basically the same, but the mounting hardware is different. Since your spedo wire is in the front wheel, you won't have to worry is you smash the plug when you pull it out of the '86

hold on a second.... makes sense if you put an 86 to an early.... you dont need the electric speed sensor.... cause you have it running from the front wheel...

me on the other hand....I dont' have a speedometer cable in the front of my 86'..........

uhmmmm maybe it doesn't work going to an earlier tranny??? can the speed thingy magig be retrofitted into an earlier tranny?

egads, I misread it. Actually, tho, I think it would retrofit. Everything else bolted in place for me, it looked like exactly the same case, but I'm a dumbass, I wouldn't take advice from me.

here is some info on the tranny issue.... uhmmm looks like 83 - 84 there is no electronic doodad...

85 case (starting at some point in the year) had the hole for it, but no sensor.....

and then 85 1/2 you get the sensor........... that would work on mine.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr my friend has an 83' LSD i coulda had .............................. life is not fair.

Ok........ who has tranny lying around for sale..... for an 86.
