Removing entire torsion and rear trailing arm assembly
So I'm working on this now and my shop manuals arent witb me. I have the entire assembly unbolted and it seems there are tabs on the torsion tube that engaged the torque tube right in front on the transaxle, do I have to remove the trans and torque tube to drop the torsion assembly or can I just detach the torque tube from the trans and get enough clearance?
This is in an 86 car. Thanks! Brian |
On the 968, you can just rotate the torsion tube assembly around the tabs on the torque tube. Use a big screwdriver if need be. You will need to address the parking brake cables mounted to the torsion assembly before lowering the torsion tube too much.

I was afraid to break them I'll give that a go tonight. I have a big pry bar that should work.
