what is this seal that came in my front seal kit
 
I am doing my first belt and seal job. i got the front seal kit from pelican. there is a white rubber washer slightly smaller in diameter than a lifesaver and slightly thicker. i don't know what it is for.

Is one side of that rubber washer look flat and the other look like a "V" shape?

It goes between the camshaft housing "box" and the front "cover" behind the cam gear. The "cover" is actually the front bearing cap. You'll also have a large thick o-ring that will go between the two parts.
