Has anybody been using the solid state DME relay?

Interested to hear how it has been performing and for how long you've been suing it for?

I have them on all my cars since they first came out. Worth every penny, don’t bother with anything else.

When did they officially get produced? I remember the development thread from ages ago but then lost track of when they actually made it to production.

And you've not had any fail on you?

And did you go for the standard or the fuel-primed version?

No fails on 4 cars and it was years ago that they’ve been released, I got the prime pump on 3 cars and a regular one on the 4th. Only reason I have a regular one is they didn’t have a prime when they were first released.

Really you shouldn’t even be thinking about this as the alternative is to buy two genuine Porsche relays and keep one in the glovebox or buy a cheap URO brand and be disappointed.

Running none, starting seems quicker on the prime version but I also have hi-torque starters on all my cars.

I got my fuel pump prime one in the second or third batch. Its been going strong for 3 yrs (?) now.

My car has always been a fast starter. I didn't notice any increase in starting time by ear but I do hear the fuel pump going now.

i have had a DME relay fail me before when i was out for a fathers day cruise with my stepdad so i know what its like to be stranded by a bad one in the middle of nowhere.

definitely worth the piece of mind not having to worry about carrying spare relays, jumper wires, having to open them up to troubleshoot or re-solder them- but there's nothing wrong with any of those if that's what you prefer to do.

Installed the "pump prime" version almost 4 years ago. Zero issues.

Fuel prime version here. About 2.5 years. No issues.

Hi everyone, quick FYI: as of March 2018, URO discontinued its second-generation DME relay and released a completely-redesigned third-gen unit. The new relay utilizes strong through-hole component mounting using Surface Mount Technology (SMT) "pick-and-place" robotics in a clean room environment for consistent assembly quality, along with modern modular-design mechanical relays for long-term reliability.

Here's what Rennlist forum member "steeley90" posted about our new relay on 3/13/2018, after not having much luck with other relays:

"The {URO} parts arrived at my work and I swiftly made my way to the car park to try one out. I wish I had a dash cam that had captured my face when the car started first time with the new relay installed. I'm absolutely ecstatic. I cannot value these new relays high enough. I've tried every other option of relay including Porsche OEM and none worked. It's still a luxury for me to get in the car and not have to pop the bonnet. One I'm sure I won't get tired of for a long time. Thanks ever so much to the guys at URO, you've made this 944 owner the happiest guy!"

Nobody here cares because you’ve screwed us with inferior parts for years, I see you are still trying to sell the 944 crowd your sh#tty motor mounts. Also jumping on a thread and inserting your product into a discussion that is clearly not about you or your products is just bad form.

We definitely wouldn't have replied, but you added URO to the discussion. Any brand being discussed in a thread is certainly welcome to join the conversation.

If you're referring to some of the alignment pegs on our 944 motor mounts not being indexed quite right, that issue was corrected in December of 2016.

True, one needs to carefully weigh their parts choices. In my opinion, a lot of URO quality has improved over the past couple years. I am also happy that they have stepped up to fill some parts needs on NLA parts etc.

I’ve been around long enough to know the poor quality of your products and the bad reputation URO has in this community. So you go for it, meanwhile I will continue to “join the conversation” and educate anyone new here to avoid anything you make.

I have the Focus 9 one and it's awesome.

URO, what you're doing by being here is showing that you're serious about improving your product quality (which has been spotty) and listening to the community. You have a reputation challenge to overcome, but if you keep doing what you're doing here, IMO you'll win converts. As long as the quality does in fact improve.

I have the Focus 9 one and it's been fine since I put it in last year (I have the non-prime one I think).

I also have one of the (new version) Uro ones which I used for a couple months. I thought it had failed, which is why I got the Focus 9 one. But in the end it turned out to be a bad reference sensor. I put the Uro one back in to check and it works fine as well.

Love hearing the fuel pump prime. I've had the Focus 9 relay in various 924s since they first came out without any problems whatsoever. (As for Uro, mine have never failed when I used them.)
