in search of wiring connector and ID
1986 944 NA I'm trying to replace two wiring connectors that are badly cracked. Located on top of the engine near the oil fill tube and supported in a metal bracket that bolts to the engine. They are 3 pin connectors with a label BG and DG. The part number on the female connector is 022-906-233-B, I dont see a part number on the male side. Pelican has the female connector in stock but the tech cant tell me what the mate is. I'm hoping one of you has been down this path and can help me ID the male part number. One more thing...the two wires connect to the back of the engine, I can see the hex head bolts with the letters B and D stamped on the plate. Wish I knew what the system was called might make it easier to clarify.
Thanks in advance for your help. John |

Ok I have found the 022-906-233-B is the harness side and the male connector side is the crank position sensor. Looks like there are two of them?? Is this right?? Should I replace the sensors that have the male connector in tacked?? A little pricey to go that route.
Thanks, John |

So what you have there is the ends of the speed and reference sensor.
I would just replace the whole thing and not just the ends. They are the same part just labeled so you know which is which https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_Info/94460611500.htm?pn=944-606-115-00-M85&gclid=EAIaIQobChMInI-jifuR7AIVUvDACh1MBAwUEAQYASABEgKVlvD_BwE |

The harness-side connectors are 3 position male Junior Timer connectors from TE Connectivity. If you want to replace the whole connector assembly, you will need the connector shell, male pins and a boot (part numbers below). These are available from a variety of places, such as Digikey and Mouser.
If the harness-side wires are bad, Lindsay Racing sells a replacement wiring harness for about $100. This will be more expensive but less involved than making your own. I have not found a source for the connectors on the sensor wires. As others have said, better to replace the sensors instead. Harness Connector Part Numbers:

Thanks you guys. The collective knowledge on the forum is a great resource. I have ordered two new sensors. The male connector which is part of the sensor wire are the ones that have broken. My logic tells me if the connectors are old and brittle, the sensors must be too. Could be causing a short because of their condition.
Thanks again, John |

When I was searching for a trailer wiring connector for my ML350 (OEM kit was NLA) someone recommended Eastern Beaver to me. They have just about every automotive wiring product known to man. Turns out, my ML plug was the same as a 90's VW Stereo plug and I got one from Crutchfield for $8.95. But I've used EB for several other things, like the little clips that hold the wiring harness in place on my 99 Triumph.

Thanks dlearl!!
I will make a note of the resource. I have purchased and receive two new crank sensors. The male connectors fit perfect. The female connectors on the harness are in good shape. I did have to dig out some remnant plastic bits in the female connectors left behind by the old male connectors. I have replaced my motor mounts, need to install the new power steering rack, sway bar with the new bushings, the o2 sensor and I'm ready for the road, I hope. John |
