83 944 vacuum line

The vacuum line at the rear if the engine goes into a "tee". The line out of the "tee" going in to direction of the passenger side of the car goes into the green can is sheared at the green can. May I remove the broken piece of hose still stuck in the can and reinsert the vacuum line? What function does the green can perform? Does the green can need to be refilled with a gas? Hopefully this broken vacuum connection is the reason the AC vents in the dash close when the car is accelerated. Thanks for your help.

I don't have an 83 and I'm not near my 86 but it sounds like a vacuum storage canister. Maybe someone else will chime in.

The green little tank in front of the battery tray is the vacuum canister. It's not filled with gas and doesn't need to be filled with anything. Just reconnect it to the vacuum line. Your local auto parts place will have the plastic vacuum line and the rubber hoses that go over the hard plastic.

Ernie944, that's a clean engine bay - love the look of it. Where are the fuel lines?

The fuel lines are the hoses with red tie-wraps going over the intake manifold...see pics.

Nice! I wish the late 944's had the fuel lines come from that side of the engine bay.
