944 VS Some Cayennes
I didn’t know where to post this so excuse me...but how come I am seeing 2004-08 Cayennes selling for less than some 944s is there something wrong with this batch of them?

From what i know , the maintenance costs for those early year Cayennes are extravagant , especially when it comes to the suspension needing work.
Once they start needing major repairs , you have to decide if you keep or fix them !

Coolant pipe issues
Some had failed heads driveshaft bearing failures HIGH miles All contribute to low resale values. Early Cayennes are now 12-15 years old. Many on 3rd-4th owners. Like 944s, maintenance costs start to outgrow the cost of the actual car so much is deferred. That said many "nice" 944s are rising in value.

Yeah! I'm holding on to my 944. Lol! Yes! I have been thinking of buying one, a Cayenne an older one (Probably the only one I can afford. Lol!) and keeping it in the garage until I can have it fixed properly or see if I can fix stuff myself, Like the suspension...I could do this work...Now engine work I probably could source out. I been seeing good prices on 06 & 08's but just was wondering what I would be getting myself into...Its just I know someone paid 60-70K or more for a car that is now going for 6-8K just seem weird or like a Junker waiting to happen. I have more than one car so this seems like something I could handle, the repairs I mean. Then I would have a refreshed car someone paid 60K for. |

Something to think about: Foxwell sell various OBDII scanners, including for Porsche. I purchased a NT530 unit for my 3 Series BMW (2015) and it does everything I need, including the funky transmission service procedure - gives step by step instructions.

Luxury cars depreciate like sushi.
Those Cayennes are old now so they are pretty much valued as rolling parts hulks. |

Its funny you say this because I am glad that it is true. Its just funny how our cars were $1500 and even less a few years ago about 8 to be exact and now they are going for a $5,000 min for clunkers and if you can find one cheaper than that its a steal. Lol! I think the LS swaps have made them more desirable to people I haven't seen many collector car worthy including mines...But mines is a nice!!! example of one so if I ever sell I will be looking for 20-15K minimum Lol! Although I don't think I will ever sell it. Even at 20K they will be twisting my arm. Lol!! But I probably would trade it for a 2005+ Lotus...Hummm!!!

I agree with some on this subject. I own a 944 and a 2008 cayenne. Always done most of my own work on my cars. True, the Cayenne can run high on repairs unless you have one with low miles. I just hit 90k on my one owner Cayenne. I just did the suspension. Shocks, control arms, tie rod ends tires. $$$ T hank goodness all work was done in my garage except for the alignment and tire mount and balance. I love this car. Knock on wood, I haven't had anything major go wrong yet. But, we chose Porsche. We knew what we were in for as far as parts costs. As far as my 944, I'll never sell it. Had it since 87. one owner. Its my therapy car. I putter and rebuild everything as a past time. Glad to see so many that feel like I do about the old 944's. Not too many pristine ones around anymore. They've all been messed with. Prefer to keep mine almost purely stock and restore systems to original. I think it is worth more that way. Although, what it's worth is not my concern. As said, I'll never get rid of it.

Panamerica and the cayenne to me isnt a sports car, its a glorified suv. As the song goes, "aint nothing like the real thing" Same goes with Porsche, Ferrari, Jag, and Lambo. I have a saying. "Keep your car Stock, hacked up cars loose value also
