Temporary Cruise Control Delete?

When I installed my freshly-recovered drivers seat, I accidentally mashed the cruise control stalk downwards (towards the “off” position) - cracking the steering wheel control stalk housing adjacent to the cruise control stalk…resulting in a cruise control stalk that feels loose and ineffective.

Seeing as how a replacement control stalk unit is about 350.00, and that my total project budget is near its end, and that I’ve never used the cruise control in a 944…is there a reasonable way to temporarily (until the budget recovers) delete the cruise control function?

I looked at the fuse box…and noticed that the fuse for the cruise control (#19) is common to the brake light fuse. I would like to maintain my brake lights, but also (for now) delete the cruise control function. Suggestions? Thanks!

Not sure this is what you are going for, but... You could pop the cable off of the accelerator pedal, and disconnect the wire plug from the underhood unit. If you're looking to deactivate a potentially unsafe condition, this would do it. It's not all that hard to just remove the whole thing though.

I had my CC freeze in the on position. Obviously unsafe, so I just pulled the whole thing out.

I'd like to have the option of re-activating the cruise control at some point in the future...but for now I just want to assess the damage I may have done to the cruise control stalk, and to make sure I can definitively de-activate the cruise control without starting a fire or doing any further damage.
