In gear no wheel turn

My son (15) and I just picked up a 1986 944. Clutch was on the floor so we replaced by the master and slave cylinders. We have bled them and have pedal. When we put it in gear we are not getting anything from the transaxle to turn the wheels. Could I possibly have a bad clutch or transaxle? The car runs but for some reason the transaxle doesn’t seem to engage. Thanks

Can you see if the rear coupler is turning? #8 here:
Transaxle Removal and Installation

Could have a blown clutch rubber center, which you might have seen if you had the starter out, or it could have a blown ring and pinion, or perhaps less likely a CV axle issue. Or maybe something crazy with one of the torque tube couplers if the PO was up to something.

Dumb question: Did you verify that the torque tube to transaxle couple get installed? I ask because just a couple weeks ago, I re-installed my transaxle just to see the coupler on the work bench...

Some people try to turn back their "odometers." Not me. I want people to know 'why' I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.

I had a 924 that slipped the X-axle to drive shaft coupling during an auto-cross, back in the '90s, it just rolled to a stop and had to be pushed off the course.

It wasn't so funny at the time, but I laugh about it now.

Sorry, I fell off my chair reading this because of the times I've done some similar bone headed move. It's nice to know that I'm not alone...

Why was the clutch on the floor? Do you mean clutch pedal? I think you are referring to the master and slave cylinder issues. Sometime bleeding the system with a fresh fluid change helps.
