Front driver's side

Was changing breaks/rotors and found this wire hanging down/ends taped off and attached to a clip of the front drivers shock. Opposite side of the speedometer. What is it, do I need to reattach it to something?

Garage
Looks like brake pad wear sensor cable.
Probably not working, that is why it is taped and disconnected.
