New Seat Skins
After getting the 944 running, the seats were the next on the agenda. The skins came from Lseat.com and were ordered for a 924 using seat pattern C - I will confirm that the 1984 944 has the same seats as the '76 to '84 924. Definitely not a factory quality job, but I did learn a new skill (poorly). I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this vendor and taking a swing at DIY upholstery.

Wow I think you need to hire Capt. Quint to hunt whatever went after those seats.
The new skins should tighten up over time and look great.

we are in the same boat in regard to doing the seats, but lucked out in the condition of the foam as the only exposed areas were part of the cover that had to come off and that the previous owner had completed the passenger side years ago. definitely a learning experience. not sure what brand we have but yours look great btw!

Lseat.com has really good reviews over the span of several forums that I subscribe to. They do not disappoint here either! Nice work on the reupholstry job, the seat turned out great! Do they supply the hog rings with the seat covers?

As for those wrinkles...I recently recovered my front seats with a kit from Only944 - and found that a very gentle heating (used a hair dryer) along with hand-smoothing/massaging smoothed things out really nicely...although my seat covers are vinyl so I'm not sure if this would be recommended for leather.
Then again, your seat still looks great...and as Jfram mentioned, they should also smooth out over time. At any rate...after having done this myself, I can appreciate the (very worthwhile) work that goes into this! |

The rings and pliers weren't included in the kit, but are available on their site. I'm still amazed at the price for the quality of finish on the Lseat kit.
