And - don’t yell me if you’ve already said this - but have you already replaced the electrical side of the ignition switch? They do seem to crack.

Best, John

1. As best I can inspect the underside of the fuse panel, it looks healthy, and no one has modified any wiring. Also, no evidence of corrosion or water damage. It's tough to see in there, but I don't have any strong reason to be suspicious there.

2. I haven't touched the ignition switch, but only about 3k miles of the 210k mileage history is in my ownership. I have all the service records from new, and I don't recall seeing anything about it there either, but my memory may be wrong. What makes you think this would be an issue? I'd expect that to be more erratic, less predictable.

Hi Neil, my question is based on first gen 944 (and 924, mine is a 924S), which have a history of the electrical portion of the ignition switch cracking. That can create all sorts of issues. I think relatively easy to inspect.

Best of luck, John

Then I suspect that issue wouldn't carry through to the late 944s. I seem to recall the ignition switch is entirely different. If I remember correctly, the early 944s don't even have an Accessory position or something?

Anyway, I'll keep that in the back of my mind if issues arise again. Thanks!
