seling the porsche 944S

Anyone have some advice for the sale of my car? 158K original miles. "S" model. Factory blue in great shape. 18" Turbo twist wheels on it and have the original phone dials and tires/good. curently has a 944 N/A trans. I have the "S" Trans and the Red Line to go with it. The swap was due to traffic. New turbo water pump and bellts/tentioning. Interior is near great, no rips, tears or cracks!! Seats are in Exelent shape front and rear. Floor is as so also. As of now it has a custom stereo system, Custom hideaway 8" subs in the rear and 6" Alpine in front and rear. 1200W thrugh a 5 chanel amp+Profesional Dynomat throughout. Runs great, stereo is not measurable! Pics and history upon request only.

there is a sister forum for 944 for sale/ wanted when you come up with a price that might be an option.

I can't speak for others but for me , if I was shopping I'd look for one that wasn't modded too much. I'd much rather do my own performance mods to one that was driven by a little old lady only to church on Sundays than to buy one one previously modified by a younger person with a boom box and some performance mods.

. It's not because I wouldn't enjoy the mods, or the stereo, its because it would also say something about MY OWN PERSONAL perception of how it was likely driven.

I dont know if it's the same everywhere , I live on a very busy street and 20 years ago the boom boxes were such an annoying fad, The kids would be out there continuously rattling their hay wired on license plates with rap music.. by now they seem to have mostly disappeared. It wasn't due to enforcement of noise bylaws. I guess what was cool changes a bit with each generation. I realized there are so many big loud Harleys either. same thing , it was a trend. I might be too old to even know what the latest cool thing is, The number of tick tock followers, or facebook friends maybe ;-)

my suggestion is keep the stereo and put it back to original,It'll sell better. By now people ( here where I am anyway) value originality as they can get collector plates.

personally I would never pay more for a car with a boom box. for me that would be a deterrent.

the transmission mods I'd leave as they are but LSD is nice. It would improve value to put it back in as original. to be honest I'd mistrust being told it was changed for better drivability and wonder if it was really changed because repairing the original thrashed tranny was more expensive than to install a used tranny. I'd say anything that you can do to show to prove this was the reason for the swap away from LSD would be beneficial. I'd look at this with a degree of caution because you can't test a tranny that is sitting on the ground.

I changed the tranny n my 66 volvo to one with overdrive, that gave me a 5th gear , It would fly on the highway. the original cars that came with overdrive had lower gears so I changed the crown and pinion to make the gearing a bit lower.. more correct.. some ( the 123GT ) had LSD but I didn't do that. I can understand why you might do that. it also improved my ability to start off the line more quickly.
