Do you know you can swap in a late DME if you replace the AFM to a late model as well ?
A lot more options available out there ... i did it with my early 83 and it's all good !

If I change to the late 85 to 87 ECU and AFM are there any other components that need to be changed?
Thanks |

I changed my ECU (DME) on my 1984 944NA to a Focus 9 Tech ECU and a Lindsey Racing MAF. The MAF comes with a 28 pin chip that doesn’t work with my original 24 pin, soldered connection ECU. I couldn’t be happier! Noticeable increase power and smoothness with no hesitation as before. The Focus 9 Tech ECU is nice with a single screw cover, and all new electronics is a nice plus for reliably. My only issue was I put the chip in flipped backwards, causing a no start condition. I was able to flip the chip without removing the ECU because of the Focus 9 Tech single screw cover. With the battery disconnected of course!
