The strangest thing. Turning a corner to the right, my wife accelerates slowly, then...clunk...clunk... then no forward or reverse available. The CVs are ok, the trans shifts and the clutch is working.
I can spin both rear wheels the same direction effortlessly. One or the other spins either direction, in gear or not. Help!

How would you know the clutch and trans are fine if you can't get the car to move forward or backward?.. clarify please, so I can breathe more sarcasm on this and not offer any real help. Frank B

Differential Blowout?
I pushed the car home and put it up on jackstands to check out anything :
Torque tube to Trans link - OK Clutch engages and disengages - OK CV Joints all working(not broken) - OK Shift pattern/Trans selects gears in a normal pattern(no catches or hang spots) Movement of the driveshaft in the torque tube does not elicit ANY movement of the wheels. |

sounds like ring & pinion
empty the gear oil and collect the 'evidence'

Thank you all for your submissions....The pinion gear sheared off a half dozen teeth somehow. The transmission is still intact (recently rebuilt). I decided to replace them with original 931 tooth count ring and pinion; 1/2 the price of the Turbo gear.

still expensive I'll bet
besides, the turbo r&p would have noticeably reduced your acceleration

That's a shame. How much was your estimate (assuming you've priced it out) for repair?..
I'm starting to loose third gear on the down shift....hey, nothing like double clutching eh?

Speedy 007 guessed it close $550 parts $750 labor. $1300 on top of $500 earlier for syncros and bearings, and $900 in a clutch.
Teeth just fractured off the pinion, no metal shavings, no reason. I am starting to loose faith in the engineers at Porsche; breakage from abuse I can see, random unprovoked failures make me crazy.
