M44/08 Engine in manual car
Hi,
Just curious as it seems my car has an M44/08 Engine that should be paired with an automatic gearbox. Mine is with the 5-speed manual. I was wondering if this would cause some issues when it is due for a clutch replacement etc. I have some papers that tell me the car has originally been a 5-speed manual 944 S. |

Everything forward of the flywheel should be the same between the auto and manual cars. I wouldnt see any potential issues when it comes time for clutch replacement.

It was a 944S 16v car? Have you located the options tag under the hatch carpet?

Just rechecked the documents, the 944 S is written with a pencil on the documentation of last vehicle inspection done in 2003 in Germany, but the export papers say it should have a M44/01 engine so the S marking is likely a mistake.
I haven't located the options tag, where is it under the carpet? |

Yeah swapping a 2.5 8v in would have been tough due to the sensors' ecu and harness.
Google pics of the options tag for help finding it. |
