Window electrics
Does the 944 have any relays in the power window system that could be sticking, and if so where are they located?
Reason I ask is I have an AGM battery in my 87S that runs down rather quickly when car is not started. The current draw is normal at 60mA. maybe it is an AGM battery issue. I bought a couple of different AGM rated battery chargers, but the best float voltage I can get is 12.45V or 75% of capacity. The battery is 2019/4 years old. My old diehard lead acid battery charger wouldn't get it above 12.25 volts / 45% capacity. Last edited by djnolan; 06-10-2023 at 10:22 AM.. |

On your 944S, the G7 relay in the fuse box is the window control relay. Its purpose is to provide power to the windows after the ignition is turned off and until the driver door is opened (at which time the relay is supposed to drop). If you have a problem with the driver door switch (note that there are two contacts in the same switch), the relay will stay active, draining the battery.
