pink 944 cabriolet: OEM colour?

Hi to everyone,

in my neighbourthood is a 944 cabrio that stands for years. This car was used for a music spot in 1998 and was pink. Now the car is black(and not so good...).I look to buy the car for years but we can't decide the right price. If i will buy the car i will repaint it in the original colour if the colour is OEM.So If you have any info or colour code thanks.

My question is if pink colour can be OEM PORSCHE colour?

In the video you can see the car from 1:42 to 1:55 min.The song is for hard drinkers...

The car in the video also looks like it has a set of equally rare 'Wintercult' wheels on it.

Not my color, but still unique! Come to think of it, I've only seen pictures of these Rubystone cars in RoW trim, never seen one in North American trim. Anybody seen a Rubystone U.S. market car?

Not sure at 100% but those look like "Flat Dish" aka sewer cover. They are not that rare it's just that you don't see them very often on a 944,they were mostly mounted on 928s.

Those are definitely the rare Wintercult wheels not the sewer covers. Commonly referred to as bottletops for obvious reasons. Never available in the US only ROW. I've always liked them because they are different. BTW late-offsets only.

Ernie, don't matter if Sewer Lids and Wintercults look similar to you, heck, they are very similar! You've got eyes to pick out a 968 in a great color-combo, thats what matters

Back to the OP; you mention it is now painted black. You should be able to figure out by looking in certain places if the car is originally Rubystone. An easy spot is in the engine bay, frequently that is not painted in a color change. But being how pink and black are very contrasted, it may have been. Other places to look: door jambs, area where the door hinges are, under the hatch (where it rests), under the trunk carpeting, etc. There are further ways to find the original color, being how the entire chassis is painted in the car's exterior color.

Also, I don't know if this holds true for RoW cars, but U.S. cars have two stickers that list the original paint code. One is in between the fusebox and HVAC fan under the hood, behind the firewall. Another spot is in the trunk, under the carpeting and behind where the license plate mounts, above the spare tire. There is a piece of paper glued to the chassis that lists all the option codes the was originally delivered with. It will list the color code, however I don't believe it lists the color name like the sticker under the hood.

Hope that helps! Good luck!

i see beter the engine compartement and it have pink spot on the firewall behinde the engine.

Porsche 944 S 2 cabrio, 1990 god.

the pink is better then this black, with black it looks old and creppy.I personally don't like this wintercult wheels, maybe will be better with a minor offset or with distance on the wheels.
the car have new clutch but have some minor age problems(electrical, mechhanical) but the guy wants about 10.000$ so a little to much.
In croatia is very rare,i belive there are 2 or 3 of this cars with good documents so maybe i will be wait our european union transfer next years to get one.

i will concentrate on my carrera gt project and 951 thet are on half way to be finisch.

thanks guys

Porsche Crest I bought this car!

Hello,

I bought exactly the car that you described there. it's Ruby Star red again today. I bought it from Germany, but the seller couldn't tell me exactly how it got to us from Croatia. Unfortunately, apart from the vehicle registration document and letter, I have no documents or a history of the vehicle. the condition is very good, no rust. looks perfect from the outside. the interior has been completely renewed, seats reupholstered with leather and so on. However, it had serious electrical problems when I bought it. a lot didn't work anymore. Light defect, the convertible top effect did not work, the passenger door was stuck and could not be opened. The trunk also wouldn't open. everything is now fixed except for the soft top. the original wintercult rims are still on it.

if you are still online here on the forum, do you have any further information for me that would explain the history of my car? how long did it stand at your neighbors? in the papers I can only see that it was deregistered in 2002. since then it has never been registered again. the engine was apparently completely overhauled in 2019 and an inspection was carried out. Unfortunately, I do not know any more.

Regards from Germany
