Rain water collected in my door sill
After sitting in 14 hours of torrential rain from storm Hillary, I open my drivers door (1983 944),and water gushed from the door sill. Luckily no water got inside. Did my door fill with water? Is there a drain hole underneath the door that is clogged and should be opened?

This happens all of the time. I have not heard of the cause or a cure.

The cause is that the drains in the bottom of the door are clogged and the water collects until it is high enough to overflow one of the openings in the inner sheet metal of the door. Open the door wide, look under the edge of the door and clean out the drains with a pick or small screwdriver.

I know my outer window seals are getting pretty hard, Is there an economic source for them? they keep water from running down the window and ending up inside the door. I agree that cleaning the drains is important, that can save a lot of damage.. sometimes for things like the drains for the sunroof what I do is take a squirt bottle of soapy water and use an air gun right behind the water stream then the water and air blast in conjunction do a good job of flushing things out. I suggest wearing safety glasses so you don't blast dirt back into your eyes.

I'm pretty sure you can still get new outer window seals from any of the usual sources; only pain is getting them fitted/installed properly...
