Newest additon

Well to end a business trip I was on this week, I took a detoure to pick up my newest p-car additon. This is the reason that I am selling my 951, or keeping it I am not sure yet.

Without telling you what this is, can you guess from looking at just the front? I'll post a picture of the back if someone gets it. Thank god the wife is in Europe right now since I am having to park her car on the street for a bit.

BallGoFar 06-12-2003 06:25 AM

Scott,

Sweet RS America! Congradulations! Now then...what's this about keeping your 951? I've got a place all picked out for it in my garage. Seriously though, your newest addition is beautiful.

todwic 06-12-2003 06:53 AM

Just so happens I recently feeling out the market for a 951... We sold our house, I'll be moving to (everybody groan with me now) Fresno, the hot sweaty armpit of CA. but I'll have some xtra scratch to purchase a 951. (honestly, I'd give up the 951 to stay in L.A., but c'est la vive, I'll deal with the diappointment in my fast arsed 951!

todwic 06-12-2003 06:54 AM

Oh yeah, sweet assed RS, scott! Congrats on that!!

Scott R 06-12-2003 07:06 AM

Damn I thought it would be tougher than that to figure out! They all look the same from the front to me!

Anyway it's a 93 with 18,500 miles on it, and it has yet to be on the track. Once I score some new 18" tires for the rear I am going to track it at the next avilable DE. I will say this, the usually long drive back from Salt Lake City to Denver seemed much shorter this time.

BallGoLong sorry about the confusion, I meant that if "you" did not end up buying my 951 I would still have both. I'll be in touch today.

Hey Todwic. Wanna buy my 951? Cause like..you should. And my dad lives about and hour out of Fresno so yeah..like I said you should :)

CJFusco 06-12-2003 01:03 PM

Ok I'll bite...

How can you tell it's a RS America and not a 'regular' 964 C2 or C4?

Scott R 06-12-2003 01:35 PM

Well now that I think back I posted that I was purchasing it eariler. But having only owned it for 72 hours, and being new to the 911 world, I can't tell without looking at the back.

The other differences are in the interior like the fact that it does not have door handles, it uses red straps. And the fact that it has no back seat, or radio.

BallGoFar 06-12-2003 01:43 PM

CJ,

If that was directed at me, I remembered that Scott had posted before about wanting to buy this car. I took a guess that it was the same one and got lucky.

What...you can't tell just by looking at the front? And you call yourself a Porschephile? ;)

CJFusco 06-12-2003 01:48 PM

heh. i was like, 'you gotta be kidding me. are they measuring ride height or something?!?'

i didn't think there was a discernable difference in the front.

congrats on your purchase. i'm gonna go drive my lowly 944NA now.

paulc 06-12-2003 04:09 PM

you da' man!

Scott R 06-12-2003 04:40 PM

Well I now have an appointment to drop it off next week for an inspection. It's was sitting for over two years, during which the battery completely died. In fact prior to that it was only started once annually for three years.

The owner was keeping it in storage and did not ever drive it. So before some important hose blows, or some oil return line or fuel line goes, I am taking it in to have them all checked. It also needs a set of tires all around, they are the originals and are completely dry rotted. IN retrospect it was probably not the smartest thing to drive it back to Colorado, but I made it.

The PO owned a mobile glass install buisness in northern Utah, and it went belly up, he had the car listed as a business asset for some tax reason. Rather then let the bankruptcy court sell it next moth he sold it to me through a mutal friend.

Sweet car! Hopefully someday when I get out of law school (5 more years to go- still in undergrad) I can get a car like that. Good thing you'll be taking the car to DE. It's a shame to see such a nice car sit in the garage for years and years without ever being used the way it was meant to be.

IMHO, you should keep the 951 if you can. A 951 is a car that can be used as a daily driver on those days you don't feel like driving your Audi S4. An RS America I'm guessing will be somewhat brutal as an 'everyday' type of car. Besides, the thought of owning both a 951 and a 911 is pretty damn cool.

Scott R 06-12-2003 05:45 PM

Yes the RS has a very tough suspension. Hang in there with law school, the first year is the hardest by far!

I am afraid the 951 has to go, "too many hens in the hen house" per say. I would never have enough time to keep both of them in good working order.

Britwrench 06-12-2003 06:10 PM

Nice car!!!!! Without wishing to rain on your parade at all; if the vehicle was listed as a business asset and the business was in bankruptcy, the owner may not have had the legal right to sell the vehicle. You might find the liquidators knocking on your door unless you can prove absolute clear ownership. I hope this is not the case, but you should make sure.

Scott R 06-12-2003 06:21 PM

I hope so as well, I do have the "signed title" and a notorized bill of sale that was issued prior to his bankruptcy filing, whihc will be the second week in July. Although I do fear the creditors as crafty as they are, they may try and take it.

Thankfully I have encircled myself with lawyerly friends, hopefully if it comes to that I can make it less attrictive to deal with me.
