Porsche Crest question, vacuum and fuel pressure...

I was wondering, does there have to be vacuum for the fuel regulator and damper to work? I was just wondering if maybe not having any vacuum is causing me to loose fuel pressure.

I don't quite understand your questioin, but they are connected at your throttle body. There are two ports on your throttle body. One is for your thermo-vac switch for your charcoal canister purge. it doesn't have very much vacuum, not enough to run your FPR and dampner. The other port has the proper amount of vacuum. Perhaps you got them switched around while you had the head off?

Then again, that would lead to too much pressure. If you take off the vac. line and hold your finger over the port, it will cause an increase in fuel pressure. If you pull a vacuum on you FPR, it dumps fuel back to the tank.

yeah, that's what I was thinking. I don't think I can feel any pressure at the regulator. The car has been having problems starting because of loss in fuel pressure for as long as I've had it. We've replaced pretty much everything in the system.

Yeah, my car had a fire before I bought it right there at the coil. I guess the diagram must have burned because there is nothing there. The factory manuals should have one in it.

Have you replaced the fuel pump check valve? How about the injectors? Both can cause a loss of fuel pressure.

Which port on the throttle body should it be plugged in to?

The vaduum line from the fuel damper and regulator go to the rear most port. The line to the thermo/vacuum switch goest to the frontmost port.

This loss of fuel pressure, does it happen while the engine is running, or does the pressure bleed off while the car is sitting?

If it is the latter, and you have replaced the damper, regulator, and the check valve at the pump, you probably have one or more injectors that are leaking.
