Some pictures of the paint correction…..

Some pictures showing the hazing and swirls around the third brake light.

After some polishing

Finished Up the polishing, very pleased with the results

I need to purchase some touch up paint to cover the chip on the brake light cover and a few other spots.

More to come…

It’s been a bit since I last updated this thread.

After changing out the headunit I turned my attention to the ugly speaker arrangement in the door. The previous owner installed Pioneer 6.5” speakers which included some ugly covers that not only looked out of place but also didn’t fully cover the rectangular opening. Ideally I wanted to go back to 4x6 speakers and stock grills but the door panels had been modified so that wasn’t possible. I found 6.5” speakers grills on Amazon which included a backing plate that allowed me to eliminate the Pioneer grills so at least it looks somewhat stock now.

Another change I made were the wipers. It’s silly but the modern looking wipers looked out of place on a car with pop up headlights so I ordered a new set of OE wipers.

I also had the chain guides replaced this past week. The shop showed me the old ones which were in great shape but the plastic looked old and brittle so they were due.

Outside of that it’s been a great car and very fun to drive. It’s become our date night / around town running errands car. The kids are also slowly learning how to drive it although not as fast as I was expecting.

I’m not sure why some of the pictures aren’t posting in the earlier thread, here’s a picture of the speaker cover, hopefully it works.

Always good to see another of these cars getting treated well. I've owned two S2s and they are indeed the best of the 944s.

This car has pleasantly surprised us and my wife especially has gained an appreciation for it. The remaining good ones which seem to be few and far between are worth saving like any other proper analog car from the 80’s/90’s. It’s not as easy to justify the spend on the 944 due to lower values but the lower price of entry does give you access to Porsche’s fun driving experience without the big up front price tag.

Ours will need a new top eventually as the original one has gotten brittle and it’s starting to tear. That will be next year though, gotta space out the expenses on these cars a bit
