Anyone have any opinions on Elephant Racing Quick Change Spring Plates?
Redoing my suspension overall with 200lb Weltmeister front springs + Koni Yellows all around and re-index the rear torsion bar but am tempted to go another $1500 to get easier adjustability depending on wheel/tire set-up.

I'm in the process of installing a similar set from Prekom; so I can't offer anything in the way of a performance review. Their adjustable spring plate (for a 924s) is about $400. But I can say that since the torsion bars come out as you replace the plates, I couldn't help but think that I could have simply adjusted the bar's position instead.

To run these youll need to make a hole in the running boards for the torsion bar to slide in-out. Ive seen many air cooled 911s with this mod and the hole can be covered with a grommet when not needed.
I think its a really good option for an early car (which have limited or no options for rear coilovers/TB delete) to have height adjustability without needing to drop the whole rear suspension. If I had an early car I would probably go this route.

while buying something already made is nice, guys have done similar over the years with the stock parts.
you cut off the very end of the stock spring plate tube and drill holes perpendicular to pass a bolt through that is secured with a nut. the bolt stops the torsion bar from walking. guys will drill/tap a hole in the torsion bar to pull out with a bolt/slide hammer. the factory spring plate allows height adjustability too, by loosening a big bolt/nut and rotating the eccentric. |
