Exclamation The best? (engine oil)

That's the disclaimer in the back of a bottle of oil...

Beliavable? I guess, saw a turbo audi run, before/after the oil change.

Well there was enough of a differance for me to buy 9 quarts of this, at about $7 a quart (they go for up to $10-13 a quart).

What do you guys think? Oh, it's LE (Lubrication Engineers).

And I've talked to a few good mechanics, and an engineer, they think this is THE best oil, and many of them think synthetics are usually not as good as the best mineral oils (Such as Valvoline 15w-40, and not in any other weight).

If interested I'll elaborate.

Damn, you caught me. I get paid so, so much...

So much, you wouldn't believe. And not only do I get empty oil bottles, but also I get different color "type R" stickers.

At the rate your car's probably burning or leaking that stuff forget the 968 or 952, you'll have to take out a loan just for oil! LOL

Oh it's expensive, I don't wanna decide to use only this oil just yet...

I'll definately post about it, after I try it though it looked pretty impressively on the audi quattro 5000 ( I think it was, the darn tank cars!) turbo that I saw.

PS: My car doesn't burn, or "use" any oil. Oil pan gasket is quite moist, not exactly leaking. I actually haven't added a single drop of oil, since last change, about 5k miles ago, including the auto-xes, etc.

When I take the pan out, possibly later this week/next week (delayed again by Partsheaven not being on time with some other parts) I'll switch to this oil.

Other stuff like the heads will also be returned back to stock.

What API grade is that oil? SJ/CH-4?? That oil is expensive. Next time I change the oil it will be with Delvac 1 if I can find it.

May I ask why no other wieght? I'm guessing that it is because diesel engine oil and diesels are harder on oils.

Okay, let's look at the bottom line.....

I'm gonna go out on a limb and agree with Ahmet that LE is a superior motor oil. However, you have to consider how long you're going to own your Porsche. Five more years? Ten? Maybe even fiveteen??

For arguments sake, lets say twenty years. Wow. There is a multitude of great motor oils on the market right now that, if you change regularly and keep to suffient levels, will make the vital components of the engine last for a LONG time. At $10-13 a quart, think about how much extra money you'll be spending over the course of time. In my opinion, that kind of price is for the birds.

But Panzer909, I saw a turbo Audi run before and after. The results were outstanding with LE, and pros swear by it. These guys cannot be wrong!?!

True. But the bottom line is that you can save a lot of money in going with a more common brand - that still do an excellent job.

When I replaced my cam and ordered a grind from Germany, they would not warrant it unless 20-50 Full synthetic (pref Mobil one) was used. It seems the one previous owner didn't follow the rule and plugged the oil tube, cracking the block at 40K. The tube and spray can be clogged with parrafin and blocked from hitting the cam lobe and associated parts. My lobe on the offending cam was flat. The rest were normal. hmmmm.........

Everybody has their preferences...

I'll go with this oil, as I can get it for $6-7 a quart (that's lower than list price, for a mechanic at most places), and I don't think it's such a bad deal then.

Is it worth it? I don't know, but I'd say no at $10 or higher, if you're not keeping the car for too long. Pretty much same as Panzer.

I bought mine in 15w-40, I believe they have two other viscosities.
